Some local schools are getting a boost with their efforts to help students continue their education beyond high school. The Indiana Commission for Higher Education says it's awarded over $162,000 to 21 organizations across the state, in the latest round of the School and Community Partnership Grant.
One of the grant recipients is Griffith High School. It plans to use its money to expand college and career readiness programming. Meanwhile, Indiana University Northwest plans to offer interactive college and career readiness workshops, along with activities encouraging students to enroll in and complete the 21st Century Scholars program.
The Institute of Leadership and Performance plans to help students at Gary's West Side Leadership Academy meet 21st Century Scholars' eligibility requirements, while the School City of Whiting plans to sponsor day trips to college campuses to help students meet the requirements of the Scholar Success program.
