The Kankakee Valley School Corporation is changing the way its school board members are elected. The board consists of two at-large members and five members who represent specific township districts.
Currently, those district seats are elected only by the voters who live in that district. Starting this November, they'll be elected by all voters in the entire school corporation. The residency requirements for the five district board members will remain the same.
The school board passed a resolution last fall approving the change. The Indiana State Board of Education gave its approval on Tuesday.
