COVID-19 spread continues to decrease in Northwest Indiana. All region counties are now coded yellow on this week's metrics map from the Indiana Department of Health. That means they're seeing a moderate spread, based on positivity rate and the number of cases per capita.

Only four southern Indiana counties remain in the red category, the highest level. Three counties are now coded blue, indicating a low level of spread.

Seven-day positivity rates are in the single digits throughout Northwest Indiana, with the lone exception of Newton County. Lake County is currently seeing its lowest seven-day positivity rate and lowest seven-day average of new cases since last July.

The Indiana Department of Health announced Wednesday that it will no longer include positivity rates for unique individuals on its COVID-19 dashboard, since many people are using home tests that aren't reported to the state. Also, since schools are no longer required to report cases, the school COVID-19 dashboard will be converted to a youth dashboard, incorporating all cases, hospitalizations and vaccinations for Hoosiers up to age 19.
