Merrillville Community Schools students will be learning virtually next week. In a letter to families Thursday, school officials said the rise in COVID cases and quarantines of close contacts are making it hard to staff schools and run buses.
Merrillville Schools will use the virtual learning plan January 10 through 14. Students already have January 17 off for Martin Luther King Day. At this point, all athletic activities are expected to continue as scheduled.
Meanwhile, the Gary and Hammond schools are switching back to in-person learning next week.
