Noll at South Central

Dan Klimczak’s squad is looking to bounce back from its first 0-2 start since 2009 as the Satellites welcome Hammond Noll to Union Mills.  The Warriors are also winless through two weeks after a blowout loss to Andrean and a close loss to Boone Grove.  The Satellites have won five of the last six meetings between the two teams.

Chesterton at Michigan City

The Trojans will have to deal with a quick turnaround after blasting Munster 35-14 on Monday.  Chesterton has won five straight head-to-head meetings between the two teams.  The Wolves have outscored their opponents 112-14 over the first two weeks, but that may say more about the opponents (Roosevelt and South Bend Washington) than it does about Michigan City.

Clark at Morton

The Morton Governors will try to stay unbeaten and extend a 16-game winning streak in head-to-head meetings with Clark that dates back to Sept. 4, 1998.  Morton’s defense has limited opponents to 13 points or fewer in each of the first two weeks, while Clark has averaged nine points per game.

Gavit at Boone Grove

The visiting Gladiators will try to bounce back from last week’s 27-0 blanking at the hands of Whiting.  Boone Grove is off to its first 2-0 start in program history after besting Noll 26-21 last week.  The two teams will face off for the first time in program history.

Bowman Academy at Hammond

The Hammond High Wildcats are 3-0 in the all-time series against the Eagles of Bowman Academy.  Coming off a week two victory over Lake Station, the Eagles are looking to send Hammond to its third straight loss.

Highland at Munster

Playing on three days of rest may be even more difficult for Muster than it is for Chesterton, given the fact the Mustangs were defeated 35-14 by the Trojans on Monday night.  Munster has won seven straight over Highland, capturing each of those victories by 23 points or more.  Highland is off to its first 2-0 start since 2003.

Hobart at Griffith

After topping LaPorte in overtime last Saturday, Hobart is 2-0 for the first time since rapping off five straight victories to start the 2008 season.  Griffith bounced back from a week one lost to Morton by blasting Wheeler 43-6.

Lowell at Kankakee Valley

Former Lowell defensive coordinator Brad Stewart will attempt to lead his Kankakee Valley Kougars over his former squad.  Stewart is 1-1 against Lowell since taking over the Kougars after KV snapped a 16-game losing skid to Lowell a year ago.

Merrillville at Crown Point

In perhaps the Region’s premiere week three matchup, the Pirates and Bulldogs will hook up to lift the lid on the 2013 Duneland Athletic Conference season in a rematch of last year’s sectional championship.  Merrillville will try to rebound from last week’s 34-32 upset at the hands of Andrean, while Crown Point is off to a 2-0 start for the second straight year.

North Newton at Calumet

Calumet has competed in two low-scoring games thus far, while North Newton has played two high-scoring battles.  Both teams are 1-1 entering this week three showdown.

Portage at Lake Central

After splitting their two non-conference games, the Lake Central Indians have an early Duneland test against an improved Portage team.  The Indians fell to Penn last Friday after defeating Mishawaka in week one.  Lake Central came out on top in the battle of the Indians in the opening round of the 2012 sectional, bringing Portage’s season to a halt.

Rensselaer Central at North Judson

The Rensselaer Central Bombers have crushed the opposition by the combined score of 76-26 over the first two weeks of the season, while North Judson only mustered up seven points in last week’s loss to Knox.  Former Lowell head coach Kirk Kennedy has the Blue Jays out to a 1-1 start in his return to Northwest Indiana.

River Forest at Lake Station

The River Forester Ingots visit Lake Station in the annual rivalry showdown as the two teams open Greater Southshore Conference play.  Rich Lunsford’s career as Lake Station head coach is off to an 0-2 start, while the Ingots stand at 1-1.

Roosevelt at East Chicago Central

East Chicago is attempting to bounce back from a 24-0 shutout loss to Lake Central, while Roosevelt has been outscored 77-0 over the first two weeks of the season.   The Panthers have not scored a point in three straight regular season games dating back to Week 9 of the 2012 season. The Cardinals have won the last 11 meetings between the two teams.

Valparaiso at LaPorte

LaPorte will play host to Valparaiso after an overtime loss to Hobart last week.  The Vikings are off to an 0-2 start for the third straight year, but they played Penn and Homestead the first two weeks of the season.

West Side at Andrean

The Andrean 59ers are riding high after taking the Battle of Broadway from Merrillville for the second time in the last three years.  Gary West Side has lost both meetings with Andrean since the two teams started playing each other in 2011.

Whiting at Wheeler

The Wheeler Bearcats are off to an 0-2 start for the second time in as many years under Tony Klimczak.  Last season, the Oilers ousted Wheeler from the top spot in the conference with a 34-7 victory over the Bearcats, Wheeler’s first ever GSSC loss.
