November 23, 2013 —┬áThe National Weather Service has confirmed two more tornado touchdowns unleashed by last Sunday’s outbreak, boosting Indiana’s total for that day to at least 28 tornadoes.

Weather service meteorologist Mike Ryan says a survey crew confirmed yesterday that two other tornadoes, both rated EF-1 on the enhanced Fujita scale, touched down in west-central Indiana.

Ryan says one of those tornadoes had maximum winds of 110 mph and cut a nearly two-mile path through northern Montgomery County just east of New Richmond.

The same storm that produced that tornado also spawned a second one with top winds of about 100 mph which cut a 3-mile path across southeastern Tippecanoe County near the town of Stockwell.

Last Sunday’s storms produced Indiana’s third-largest tornado outbreak on record, although those results are still preliminary.

The same storm left heavy fatalities and damage, shown, in Illinois.
