Walker, then Zoeller, Challenge Ritz Lawsuit
October 24, 2013 — Indiana’s attorney general is joining a Lake County lawyer in asking Marion Circuit Court to dismiss a lawsuit by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz.
This week she sued 10 members of the State Board of Education which she chairs.
Gary attorney Tony Walker is a member of that board, and yesterday he filed a request for dismissal of the lawsuit.
Ritz says board members appointed by Republican governors met secretly to act against her authority. They asked Republican legislative leaders to take the state’s A-F school grading process away from the education department.
Today, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller said Ritz has no authority to file her suit because that’s the sole legal authority of the Attorney General.
