May 30, 2014 – Valparaiso’s efforts to rebuild and redesign a popular park just received a significant monetary boost.

Family Express Corporation and its owners, the Olympidis family, are donating $250,000 to ValPLAYso – The Next Generation.

“Our family was touched by the experience of participating in the building of the original ValPLAYso some 20 years ago,” says Alex Olympidis, Director of Operations for the company, in a press release.  “ValPLAYso has evolved into a shining ornament in a wonderful park system, but that’s not all.  The experience of a community coming together to build this park has created a magical culture of belonging, and a reflection of its stewardship for future generations.”

The original ValPLAYso incorporated ideas from elementary students and was built by volunteers over a five day span in 1994. ValPLAYso – the Next Generation is a project to update and upgrade the aging playground.
