Urschel Promotes Successor into CEO Role

September 13, 2013 — Urschel Laboratories, Inc. says it has a new president and chief executive officer, effective today.

It announced today that its board of directors is moving Rick Urschel from vice president of operations to president/CEO.

Bob Urschel has been the company’s president/CEO for the past 30 years, and he will remain with the company as chairman of the board, saying, “As I pass the leadership of the company on to Rick, I am fully confident in his abilities as the new president and CEO of Urschel Laboratories.”

The Company says Rick Urschel is a fourth generation of the Urschel family working at Urschel, starting in 1991.  The Company says, “With a management degree from Purdue University, full working knowledge of every department within the company, and a passion for technology, he embraces the legacy of carrying on in the footsteps of the Urschel family of innovators.”

Urschel says its privately held, family-run U.S. manufacturing company “is the global leader in food cutting technology. Founded in Valparaiso, Indiana, in 1910, by William Urschel, the company recently acquired approximately 160 acres of land in the neighboring town of Chesterton and is in the process of constructing what will become its new manufacturing and global headquarters.”
