March 10, 2014–LaPorte County Sheriff’s Dept.–
Two La Porte men are in jail on narcotics-related charges after police stopped their car Friday night at U.S. 35 and Johnson Road, just outside LaPorte.
County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Major John Boyd says deputies and La Porte County Metro Operations Unit officers stopped a car driven by 31-year-old Nicholas Albertson. Their drug-sniffing dog Hokie detected something on an outside search. Officers later found more than 29 grams of heroin in the car and arrested Albertson and his passenger, 32-year-old Brian Wilkinson.
Wilkerson faces felony Possession of Heroin charges and Albertson is accused of felony Aiding, Inducing, or Causing an Offense for his involvement in carrying the heroin in his car. Major Boyd says the investigation is on-going and additional arrests are anticipated.
