July 16, 2013 — A group of Northwest Indiana teens will reach out and lend a helping hand later this week to Sojourner Truth House, the resource center that serves homeless women and children in Gary.

Nearly 200 high school-aged teens and 30 adult youth leaders will experience and celebrate their faith at the tenth annual “Catholic Youth Xperience,” July 19th through the 21st in Valparaiso.  The teen volunteers will perform a variety of projects on Saturday at Sojourner Truth House…. including painting, landscaping, cleaning, and organizing donated supplies in their food and clothing pantries.

The teens are from urban, suburban and rural towns alike throughout the four-county Roman Catholic diocese of Gary.  The conference for teens is organized by the Office for Youth and Young Adults, in conjunction with youth ministers and volunteers from many of the more than 70 parishes in the diocese.
