Tec Air Moving Headquarters To Munster
October 23, 2013 — Illinois-based Tec Air, a company that designs and makes plastic air movement components and systems, is joining the list of firms relocating their corporate headquarters to Munster.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation says Tech Air plans to create up to 258 new jobs by 2016. The 48-year-old firm will move into the Lake Business Center at 9200 Calumet Avenue, a business center created out of the remains of a former Simmons mattress factory.
The decision is the second recent decision by Illinois companies to relocate in Indiana, and Munster in particular. MAC Medical Supply Company, Inc., a wholesaler and sourcer of medical supplies, announced on Oct. 18 their plans to relocate its warehouse and shipping operations from Tinley Park, Ill. to here, creating up to 40 new jobs by 2016. Packaged meats manufacturer Land O’ Frost officials joined Munster town officials last month to break ground on a new corporate headquarters, moving across the state line from Lansing.
Tec Air will transfer 150 employees and almost $8 million of assets from its Illinois facility to the new location, bringing the company’s investment in Indiana to approximately $15 million.
The expansion, which will be complete next spring, will house corporate offices, engineering labs, manufacturing, quality labs, warehousing and distribution. Tec Air’s investment in the new Indiana facility will include new injection molding and assembly equipment, such as process cooling, material handling, molding machines, robotics and R&D test equipment.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Tec Air Inc. up to $2,260,000 in conditional tax credits and $190,000 in training grants based on its capital investment plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until investments in Indiana are made, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Munster offered additional incentives.
