TAKING AN “AMERICAN RIDE” WITH NEW YORK ROCKER WILLIE NILE!
THIS “MIDWEST BEAT with TOM LOUNGES” PROGRAM FEATURING MUSICAL GUEST WILLIE NILE ORIGINALLY AIRED ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2013
WILLIE NILE is a native New Yorker with a string of critically acclaimed albums. Starting his career in the Greenwich Village folk and rock scenes, Nile began hanging out at clubs like CBGB’s eventually landing his first record deal in 1980.
Nile so impressed WHO guitarist Pete Townsend with his debut album that Willie was invited to open a string of shows for The Who’s world tour in 1980. Nile has since earned the respect, admiration and friendship of many top artists, including Paul Simon, Lou Reed, and Bruce Springsteen. The Boss loves Nile so much that he invited Willie on stage to jam with The E-Street Band at both of their historic concerts at Shea Stadium and Giant Stadium, as well as on various other occasions.
It was during Nile’s first national tour in 1980 that “Midwest BEAT” radio host Tom Lounges first met the gifted singer/songwriter/guitarist and became a lifelong fan of Willie’s music.
“Willie is an incredible songwriter and performing artist. Willie Nile may not be a household name, but he certainly should be and in a just world, he would be. I’m very much looking forward to having him on my radio program to catch up and to check out tunes from his new album, “American Ride,” said Lounges.
Nile has built a strong Northwest Indiana fan base and has performed in the region several times over the years, but always as a solo artist. This radio program featued Willie to promote his first live performance in the region featuring his top notch New York City band. That show is on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso, Indiana.
