Clinic workers Shannon Lowney and Lee Ann Nichols are murdered by John Salvi, a radical, young, Catholic abortion opponent. Though some religious pro-life advocates support Salvi’s actions, Boston’s top Catholic official, Cardinal Bernard Law, calls for a moratorium on anti-abortion protests outside the clinics.
