GARY — Crews contracted by this year’s Knight Foundation “Cities Challenge” grant recipient in Gary are busy looking over selected abandoned houses in the city, “de-constructing” them and setting aside materials for re-use.

Eve Pytel from Chicago-based Delta Institute was on “Regionally Speaking” to offer an update on the beginning of their “Steel City Salvage” project.   Eve says they’re in it for the long-term, not just “do a few houses and leave town.”
