June 18, 2013 — Democrat members Indiana’s House of Representatives who walked out of the general assembly in 2011 and 2012 have to pay a fine for their walkout.

To fight right-to-work legislation Democrats under former house Speaker B. Patrick Bauer boycotted the legislature, preventing a quorum to hold up passage of a bill that restricted union organizing in Indiana.

Ultimately the bill passed, and Republican leadership fined democrats more than $250,000. They challenged the fine, but today the Indiana Supreme Court ruled the Democrats must pay.
