State Police Preparing to Support Gary
August 14, 2013 — Gary Police say that Indiana State Police are preparing to help them with the city’s anti-violence effort.
Gary Police Chief Wade Ingram says the state’s Technical Support Team met yesterday at Lowell though Chief Ingram was not included in the meeting.
The team comes as Governor Mike Pence’s response to a request from Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson. The Mayor asked the Governor this summer for state help in policing Gary, where the murder rate is approximately 50% higher this year than last year.
