State Police Awaken Sleeping Motorist, Chase Him For Three Miles

Share Tweet Email

A 38-year-old Lake Village man is in jail, charged drunk-driving and other offenses after he fled from Indiana State Police who found him parked and asleep, with engine running, this morning in the triangular striped area on I-80 at the Burr Street exit in Gary.  Troopers knocked on Ted Compton’s window to awaken him…but he then put the car in gear and drove off.  Officers chased him for three miles before he pulled off the expressway at Grant Street and pulled over to the shoulder. Besides facing O-W-I charges, Compton faces felony charges of being a habitual traffic violator and resisting law enforcement.
