Solid Waste District Executive Interviews Today
November 18, 2014 — The Lake County Solid Waste Management District board committee that’s searching for a new Executive Director will interview at least a half-dozen candidates for the job Tuesday morning.
The interviews will be conducted in executive session at the district offices in Merrillville. Search process attorney Bill Moreau told Lakeshore Public Radio that there has been “substantial interest” in the vacancy and many good candidates.
The next Executive Director must have at least 10 years’ experience, either in the public or private sectors, to develop or revise a county-wide solid waste management plan that also meets the state’s recycling targets and help Lake County communities “beef up” their recycling programs. The advertised salary range for this job is between 65-thousand and 75-thousand dollars a year, much less than former Executive Director Jeff Langbehn’s 2013 salary.
The board will select someone in the hopes that the person will begin work on January 1st.
