Casual Fridays with Jerry Davich

Snow Plow Controversy

Share Tweet Email
Should the city of Portage have sent a few of its snowplow trucks into Gary on Wednesday to help that city’s cleanup crews after Tuesday’s heavy snowstorm?  Portage Mayor James Snyder says unequivocally yes, and he acted on his stance by making the call to do so.  Portage City Councilman Mark Oprisko, among others on the council, says otherwise, insisting it’s a waste of taxpayer dollars and city resources.
On this edition of Casual Fridays with Jerry Davich, Jerry and Karen delve into this white-hot issue on such a bitter-cold day and welcome phone calls from listeners, politicians, and region residents.
Also, on today’s show we are exploring small business ownership in NWI by talking with two local owners,  Jim O’Kelly, who owns the legendary but struggling Jim Dandy’s ‘50s-style restaurant in Hobart, and Michelle GO-lab who owns Topperz, a Portage eatery that will be once again offering a special Valentine’s Day dinner.
