Sheriff Warns of Child Predator in Gary
November 6, 2013 — The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents today about a sex predator who targeted a Gary girl this week.
The Sheriff’s Department says a 14-year-old girl fled from a car Monday after she was victimized while on her way to school.
Sheriff’s information says she was in the area of 45th and Grant Street in Gary approximately 7:50 a.m. when a man driving a silver-colored vehicle pulled up to her, asking if she was lost.
The Sheriff’s Department says he followed the girl for a short distance and asked if she wanted a ride, which she accepted, driving her to a church parking lot where he forced her to perform a sex act on him before he left the area south on Pierce Street from 47th.
The Sheriff’s Department says the victim was able to leave the scene on foot, describing the suspect as an older, balding, heavy set male, black with grey and black facial hair on his chin, with caramel color skin and wearing a grey t-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
Detective Traci Harbin is investigating this incident, inviting tips with related information at 219-755-3355.
