Shepherd’s Name Stays On GOP Ballot
February 25, 2014 — The name of the late Lake County Assessor Hank Adams’ wife will remain on the May Republican Party primary election ballot.
The Board of Elections dismissed an opponent’s claim that Jean Shepherd was ineligible to run for re-election because she didn’t take Hank’s last name when they married.
Jean is currently the St. John Township Trustee. Daniel Langmesser of Schererville — who’s also on the GOP primary ballot for Township Trustee — filed the challenge that the Board of Elections considered yesterday. The Board heard from both Langmesser and Shepherd, and ruled in favor of Shepherd remaining on the ballot.
Shepherd told her supporters earlier not to worry about Langmesser’s ballot challenge.
