Security Expert Talks About Purdue Response To Fatal Shooting
January 22, 2014 — Network Indiana
An Indiana-based homeland security expert says the fatal shooting at Purdue University will mean careful review of security on campuses nationwide. Mike Corbin reports.
Peter Beering is also the son of former Purdue University President Steven Beering and his daughter is currently a student at Purdue. Beering says the incident will likely lead to a review of the university‘s well-rehearsed and executed “active shooter” plan. He says active shooter plans for college campuses have become as common as severe weather plans and fire drills. Beering says anytime there‘s a security breach in the nation, freedom become a potential tradeoff. Beering says hopefully any security changes made as a result of the Purdue incident will be carefully considered and measured.
