Search Underway For Sex Offender
April 10, 2014 — LaPorte County Sheriff–
(LaPorte) — The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating a wanted Sex Offender: 31 year old James W. Adams. Sheriff’s Major John Boyd says Adams is currently wanted by the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office for Sex Offender: Failure to Register, a class “D” felony.
In 2000 James Adams was convicted in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and in 2001 he was again convicted in Milwaukee County of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Based upon these convictions, he has been identified as an Offender Against Children with a lifetime requirement to register with law enforcement as such.
Adams first registered with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office in 2009 and in October 2013 he notified the Sheriff’s Office that he was homeless. Since October of 2013 he had been registering as homeless every seven (7) days, as required by Indiana Code. He last registered in mid-February 2014 and has not been seen or heard from since. In addition, a nationwide inquiry has been made and Adams has not registered with any other law enforcement agency and his whereabouts is not known. He had been previously living in the Michigan City area.
James W. Adams is 5’11” tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes and has a tattoo of a panther on his upper right arm and on his lower right forearm he has a tattoo with the words: “Mama’s Boy” .
On April 2, 2014 La Porte County Circuit Court issued a criminal arrest warrant for ADAMS based upon his failure to comply with the terms of Indiana’s Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
