Saturday will help present Indy’s Super Bowl bid
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Former Colts center Jeff Saturday and Indiana Sports Corp. president Allison Melangton will present Indianapolis’ 2018 Super Bowl bid at the NFL’s owners meeting.
Formal presentations will be made at the meeting Tuesday in Atlanta. Colts owner Jim Irsay is expected to make the final pitch for Indianapolis before the vote.
Saturday was an undrafted free agent who became a perennial Pro Bowler and a close friend of quarterback Peyton Manning. He also was a key player in settling the league’s lockout in the summer of 2011.
Melangton was the president and CEO of the 2012 Super Bowl host committee.
Mark Miles, the CEO of Hulman & Co. and a key player in auto racing’s IndyCar Series, and USA Football executive director Scott Hallenbeck also are part of Indianapolis’ delegation.
