Royals look for another win

(AP) — The new team in charge of the American League Central looks to improve on its position tonight. Kansas City has won eight straight and nine of 10 to pass the Tigers in the divisional race. This evening the Royals are home to the AL West leading Athletics, who they beat last night 3-2. Detroit looks to regain first place with a game against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals is out to become the first 15-game winner of the season tonight. Wainwright, who is 14-6 with a 2.28 earned run average, is in Miami for a game against the Marlins. In eight career starts against Miami, Wainwright is 4-1 with a 2.11 ERA.

The Orioles look to increase their lead in the American League East tonight with another home game against the Yankees. The O’s blew by New York 11-3 last night while Toronto was tripped by the Mariners 11-1. The Orioles now lead the Blue Jays by six games and the Yankees by seven.

The Dodgers and Braves continue their series in Atlanta tonight. The visitors from southern California won last night’s opening game 6-2 and now lead the second-place Giants in the National League West by five games. By losing, the Braves fell four games back of NL East leader Washington.

Tonight, the Giants are home to the White Sox while the Nationals are in New York to meet the Mets.

Your remaining games this evening have the Indians hosting the Diamondbacks, Boston at Cincinnati, the Rangers home to Tampa Bay, Minnesota at Houston, the Angels entertaining the Phillies, Toronto in Seattle and the Padres hosting the Rockies.
