Rock Great PAUL RODGERS Brings The Memphis Sound To The Lakeshore
This edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
PAUL RODGERS — the voice behind all those great songs and huge radio hits recorded by FREE, BAD COMPANY, THE FIRM, not to mention his many great solo albums — went down to Memphis, Tennessesee last year to pay tribute to the roots music that first kick-started his musical mojo as a young British teen.
On tonight’s “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” the music from Paul’s reverent return to roots album, “THE ROYAL SESSIONS,” will be spotlighted as Paul tells of re-recording the songs that inspired him so many years ago with the very session players, horn section and backing vocalists who had laid down the original tracks with his music heroes like Albert King, Otis Redding, Ann Peebles and Isaac Hayes.
Don’t miss this show as living legend PAUL RODGERS who has inspired and influenced so many singers over the last 40 years tells of how he was influenced and inspired by the almost forgotten African-American music artists who created their music in the vintage old studio where Rodgers recorded the songs on this program and others.
A highly collectable Paul Rodgers guitar signed by Paul and the other surviving original members of BAD COMPANY — Simon Kirk and Mick Ralphs — has been donated by Paul for the live auction to benefit THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF NORTHWEST INDIANA taking place at COUNTY LINE ORCHARD in Hobart, Indiana on SATURDAY, MARCH 29th. Support the shelter animals and you could take a real piece of rock history home with you that evening! More info: www.tomlounges.com
