Right to Life Group Challenges Gary Clinic Doctor

December 3, 2013 — Tonight a local advocacy group is calling for the suspension of a doctor at Gary’s Friendship Family Planning Clinic.

Members of Indiana Right to Life and Lake County Right to Life gathered outside the facility today.

They displayed some of the total 626 complaints they filed against Dr. Ulrich Klopfer of Crete, Illinois.

Organizers say each complaint reflects a terminated pregnancy report containing more than 3000 errors or omissions.

The group officials say Klopfer is not abiding by state law that requires complete records of every abortion.

Lake County Right to Life board member Lynne Scherschel says, “It makes me wonder what’s going on otherwise within the entire business. So that’s one thing. And then, the state requires that these records be kept for statistical purposes or protection of the women so we have some clue of what’s going on inside those doors.”

The Indiana Department of Health says failure to complete and submit the post-abortion report on time carries a class B misdemeanor charge.
