Rice hearing continues
NEW YORK (AP) — More testimony is scheduled in Ray Rice’s appeal of his indefinite suspension from the NFL.
During yesterday’s approximately nine-hour opening session NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell testified for more than two hours, a person familiar with the case told The Associated Press.
Goodell issued the suspension after video surfaced of the former Pro Bowl running back striking his then girlfriend, Janay, who is now his wife. She could be called to testify today.
Goodell initially issued a two games suspension to Rice, but upped it after the video surfaced, claiming it was new evidence. Rice contends the NFL knew everything about the encounter from the beginning and wants immediate reinstatement.
Baltimore released Rice after the video became public.
