Residents Air Views At Illiana Meeting
Dozens of residents gathered in Lowell Thursday night to voice their opposition to the proposed Illiana Expressway. A public meeting was held at Lowell Middle School to discuss the plan to connect I-65 in southern Lake County to I-55 in Illinois. INDOT representative Jim Earl explained that the new highway will reduce congestion on major roadways in northern Lake County. Tier One of the project, which focused on the location of the new highway, has been completed and state and federal agencies will now begin engineering and environmental studies.
