Recycling, Leaf Composting Contracts Up For Review
September 22, 2014 — The Lake County Solid Waste Management District is looking for companies interested in collecting materials at its 14 recycling drop-off centers.
Waste Management has been handling the drop-off centers since 2011, but the district board wants to see if any other firms want the contract. The request for proposals will be going out soon, and the board will review any proposals they receive at their November meeting.
The drop-off centers currently accept a number of recyclable items, and the list is available on the district’s Web site.
The solid waste district board is also seeking proposals from companies for its leaf vacuuming and drop-off programs offered to residents in unincorporated areas of Lake County.
The drop-offs accept bagged yard waste including twigs. The leaf vacuum program’s been in place for more than 10 years. All yard waste received goes to the county’s composting operation.
Those proposals will also be reviewed by the LCSWMD board in November.
