RDA, NICTD To Share Transit Plan Costs
The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District and the Regional Development Authority will split the $550-thousand cost to develop a strategic business plan for commuter transit. The plan is expected to be completed in early 2014 and was approved by the RDA board yesterday. It was approved by the NICTD board late last month.
RDA President Bill Hanna said connectivity to Chicago is an economic key for northwest Indiana … and the plan will maximize that. The plan will look at increasing ridership on the South Shore Railroad, access to airports and recreation destinations, public-private partnerships and expanding service.
