The RailCats (47-35) earned a split of their doubleheader with Wichita (56-27) on Wednesday night. The Wingnuts took the opener 2-1 on a walkoff double and the RailCats bashed their way to a split with a 10-5 win in game two. The split kept the RailCats lead in the wild card chase to two and a half games ahead of Winnipeg and three games ahead Lincoln and Laredo. In the first game the RailCats jumped on the board in the top of the first inning. Mike Massaro tripled down the first base line for his 13th triple of the year and Christian Vitters drove him in with a solid single to center. Morgan Coombs managed to dance out of trouble in early on; stranding the bases loaded in each the first, second and third innings. The RailCats and Wingnuts complete their three-game series on Thursday with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. RHP Billy Spottiswood (5-2, 3.35 ERA) will throw for the RailCats, LHP Anthony Kapra (6-2, 3.87 ERA) will go for Wichita.
