Railcats Shutout in Game 1

September 5, 2013 – Fargo, ND – A pitcher’s duel in game one of the American Association semi-finals between the RailCats and Redhawks was taken by Fargo-Moorhead 2-0 on Wednesday night.

In the decisive eighth inning, Alain Quijano allowed a leadoff single to Ronnie Bourquin then got Nic Jackson to fly out to center field for the first out of the inning. CJ Retherford then singled on the first pitch he saw to knock Quijano from the game.

Kyle Lindquist entered and surrendered a single to Jeremiah Piepkorn to score the game’s first run. Tim Alberts followed with a sacrifice fly to left to score Retherford and take the 2-0 lead for Fargo.

Reliever Joe Harris earned the victory with two and ⅓ scoreless innings of relief.

Quijano was the tough-luck loser for the RailCats. In seven and ⅓ innings he allowed a pair of runs on six hits and three walks.

The RailCats will play game two of the semi-final series with Fargo on Thursday night at Newman Outdoor Field. RHP Alex Caldera (8-6, 4.31 ERA) will throw for Fargo; RHP Stephen Hiscock (4-2, 3.26 ERA) for the RailCats.
