Railcats Salvage Final Game

August, 19, 2013 -Gary, IN – Morgan Coombs outdueled Kyle Vazquez in an entertaining and well pitched game on Sunday afternoon as the RailCats took a 2-1 victory over Sioux Falls. The ‘Cats improved to 48-37 while the Canaries dropped to 37-50. Coombs set a career-high with 10 strikeouts but was removed from the game after Reggie Abercrombie doubled with one out in the ninth inning. After reliever Estevan Uriegas walked Tim Pahuta on five pitches, Ian Durham entered and hit Jared Clark with the first pitch he threw to load the bases. J.P. Ramirez then hit a sac fly to left to score Abercrombie from third and bring the game to 2-1. Ian Durham recovered to get Jake Taylor to ground out to short to end the game and earn Coombs his fifth win of the season.  Morgan allowed one run on five hits and did not walk a batter in eight and a third innings. The RailCats have an off-day on Monday then will play a doubleheader with the Wichita Wingnuts on Tuesday night beginning at 5:10 p.m. It’s Gluttony Night! Fans can purchase All-You-Can-Eat Tickets and enjoy two games for the price of one during Tuesday’s doubleheader. It’s also Two for Tuesday as fans can buy two and get two free on tickets!
