September 9, 2013 – Akeem Hunt has been named the co-Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after helping the Purdue football team beat Indiana State on Saturday.

The junior returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown during the 20-14 victory, giving coach Darrell Hazell his first win as the Boilermakers’ head coach.

Hunt scored on a reverse after taking a handoff from B.J.Knauf, who initially fielded the kick. Hunt was credited with a 99-yard return. It’s the second kickoff return for a touchdown scored by Hunt, who produced 100-yard touchdown in last year’s overtime loss at Ohio State.

Hunt finished with 243 all-purpose yards, including 82 on the ground.

Also, the Big Ten announced that Purdue’s Sept. 21 game at Wisconsin will start at 3:30 p.m. (ET). The game will be broadcast on ABC.
