Purdue seeking momentum after loss to Irish

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — The Purdue Boilermakers have found what they’ve been missing most: The team’s intensity level.

The Boilermakers learned how important it is to play with a high intensity level when they stuck with Notre Dame in a 30-14 loss last weekend.

Now coach Darrell Hazell has an idea of how hard his to team play and he wants to see the same intensity moving forward, starting when the Boilers host Southern Illinois on Saturday.

Purdue played with Notre Dame in a loss last season, too, but then lost nine straight games to end the year. This year is different, Hazell said, and the Boilermakers have a new team, who wants to pick up another win before the start of the Big Ten season.
