Purdue happy with scoring in opener
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Darrell Hazell saw a lot of positives in Purdue’s season opener last weekend.
The second-year Boilermakers coach pointed out the way the team kept its composure and how specials teams came through in a big way — contributing to a big scoring day for Purdue.
The Boilermakers beat Western Michigan 43-34 on Saturday, winning their home opener for the 11th straight season. They scored more than 30 points for just the second time since Hazell took over.
On Saturday, Purdue will host Central Michigan, whose defense could give the Boilermakers a whole new set of challenges.
