Purdue Calumet Unit Gets Federal Grant For Steel Consortium

May 16, 2014 — Purdue University Calumet news info. — Purdue University Calumet’s Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation received a $480,000 federal grant to launch a consortium intended to benefit the United States steel industry.

CIVS director Chen Zhou says the grant will create a consortium that’ll work toward developing long-term technical solutions for improving efficiency, lowering production costs, advancing steel manufacturing quality and improving workforce training.

The two-year, advanced manufacturing technology planning grant is among 19 grants totaling $9 million awarded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology to universities and other non-profits.
