September 4, 2013 — Indiana Department of Transportation officials are holding two public meetings this month, seeking feedback on details of a proposed high-speed rail line in northwest Indiana.

The meetings will be held at the Genesis Convention Center in Gary on Wednesday, September 18 and on Thursday, September 19  in the Porter Town Hall first-floor meeting room.  Both meetings will begin at 4 p.m. and they will focus on possible route alternatives between Chicago and the town of Porter.

The proposed route would run from Chicago to Pontiac, Michigan and include stops in Hammond and Michigan City.

More info on the public meetings available online on the project’s web site: www.greatlakesrail.org.
