Prosecutor Recuses Self From Aylesworth Case
December 1, 2014 — VALPARAISO (AP) — Porter County Prosecutor Brian Gensel says he is looking for a prosecutor from another county or a former prosecutor to determine if state Representative Michael Aylesworth was illegally inside a polling place on election day.
The Republican prosecutor tells the “Times” that he is recusing himself because he is a longtime friend of Aylesworth, a Hebron Republican.
Porter County voter registration office Republican Director Sundae Schoon says Aylesworth is accused of using GOP-issued credentials to serve as a poll book holder within a precinct. Aylesworth was working at the site where he votes.
The Indiana Secretary of State’s election division says candidates are not allowed inside a polling place on election day other than to cast their own ballots.
