Porter Hospital, Loyola Medical Center To Partner
The Region’s newest hospital has a partnership today with one of Chicago’s leading teaching hospitals. The Lakeshore’s Sarah Holst reports.
Just seven months after opening its doors … Valparaiso’s Porter Regional Hospital has established a new partnership.
Jonathan Nalli – Today we announce clinical affiliation between Porter and Loyola Medical Center.
Porter Health Care System Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Nalli made the announcement alongside Loyola University Medical Center’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Hecht.
Dr. David Hecht – We have a long track record of excellence in patient care
Dr. Hecht says through telemedicine … doctors at Loyola will be able to view patient records, x-rays and scans … eliminating the need for patients to travel to Chicago to see a specialist.
Hecht – To be able to diagnose with electronic means… great opportunity to take care of the patient here.
One of the first units to benefit from the partnership will be Porter’s Cancer Care Center.
Nalli Their oncology program is top in the nation… work in fighting cancer.
Hecht – You’ll actually be able to conduct clinical trials here… study nurse here.
Nalli says the main goal of the affiliation is to increase communication between doctors at both facilities in order to help patients.
Nalli – I think we all learned as healthcare evolved, the more we communicate, the better care our patient is going to receive.
Nalli says the partnership officially took effect last month and patients will begin benefiting from the affiliation immediately.
