Porter County Woman Dies In Jail
October 14, 2013 — (AP) — Police say a 30-year-old Ogden Dunes woman died at the Porter County Jail on Saturday, shortly after she was taken into custody.
Porter County police spokesman Sergeant Larry LaFlower says the woman died early Saturday at a local hospital. She isn’t yet being identified until her relatives are notified.
The woman arrived at the jail Friday night following her arrest on a court warrant. She was placed in a padded cell after being deemed a threat to herself and others. About two hours later, a jail officer found the woman unresponsive with shallow breathing and she was later pronounced dead at Porter Regional Hospital.
An autopsy and toxicology testing were scheduled to be performed on the woman’s body.
