Porter County Give Day Active Through Midnight
November 7, 2013 — For some local residents tonight, helping the community is as simple as point, click and give.
Today marks the annual Porter County “Give Day,” a charitable event that encourages residents to donate to local not-for-profit organizations. This year’s 24-hour charitable marathon focuses on groups that help children.
$70,000 of matching funds are available to residents who donate to any one of 25 local groups.
Organizers want to cash in on late donations, so they are offering a “procrastinator’s prize”
Carol Costakis with the Porter County Community Foundation says, “We want to bring awareness so we can help more kids.”
Organizers say they are confident they’ll exceed last year’s give amount. Matching donations will be available through 11:59 tonight, and local organizations supporting children are happy to accept donations any other day as well.
