Porter County Experiencing “Flash Freezing” on Road Surfaces
January 7, 2014 by Kristyn Estes & Jerry Howard
Though winds have subsided, continued arctic temperatures and miles of open fields and unsheltered roads are still causing problems in Porter County.
Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Larry LaFlower spoke with Lakeshore’s Kristyn Estes about winter storm effects there.
LaFlower says flash freezing is a factor in “a lot of crashes” in the county, and he expects those effects to repeat in an overnight re-freezing cycle, asking drivers to avoid driving as much as possible until road conditions improve.
