Share Tweet Email

November 22, 2013 — Gary Police say they are looking for a man who sent two of their officers to a hospital today.

Police Corporal Gabrielle King says at approximately 1:30 p.m. today those officers were loading prisoners into the back of the transport van when 21-year-old Jamal Haskins assaulted them.

Police say Haskins kicked one officer and pushed another down before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

Officers are looking for Haskins, described as 5’6″,220 lbs, with a short haircut and wearing all black.

King says Haskins was in court today before Judge Diedra Monroe who asked Haskins if he had been going to Edgewater Systems for Balanced Living as he had been told to do.  King says when Haskins told the judge he had not gone, Judge Monroe then sentenced him to 365 days in Lake County Jail.

King says the officers, both 47, were transported to an emergency room for treatment for their injuries which are not life threatening.
