Pence Open To Armed Guards In Schools
Governor Mike Pence says he‘s committed to finding ways to provide all schools in Indiana with armed school resource officers.
The Governor says Indiana is the only state that requires public safety officers and safety plans for all schools. However, he adds he‘d like to see something greater. “I am open to proposals that would provide resources and proper training to every school in the state of Indiana to have an armed school resource officer on the premises.” Pence says he favors local school districts and parents being able to decide what works best. The Governor‘s comments follow the Indiana House Education Committee‘s passage of a bill that mandates the move.
