Park Upgrades Coming to East Chicago

April 18, 2014—East Chicago officials announced plans to invest over $2 million in the city’s parks this year. According to a press release from the city, Mayor Anthony Copeland, the East Chicago Common Council and the East Chicago Park Board cooperated to make the renovations and improvements possible in the coming months. A list of planned upgrades at each park includes:

  • Tod Park – Playground, Fitness Equipment, Benches, Trash Receptacles, Bike Racks, Picnic Tables, Wayfinding/Information/Decorative Signs
  • Kosciusko Park – Playground, Fitness Equipment, Basketball Courts, Shelters, Benches, Trash Receptacles, Bike Racks, Picnic Tables, Wayfinding/Information/Decorative Signs
  • Washington Park – Playground, Fitness Equipment, Basketball Courts, Shelters, Pavilion, Benches, Trash Receptacles, Bike Racks, Picnic Tables, Wayfinding/Information/Decorative Signs
  • Nunez Park – Playground, Basketball Courts, Shelters, Benches, Trash Receptacles, Bike Racks, Picnic Tables, Wayfinding/Information/Decorative Signs
  • Callahan Park – PlaygroundBasketball Courts, Shelters, Pavilion, Benches, Trash Receptacles, Bike Racks, Picnic Tables, Wayfinding/Information/Decorative Signs
