Pacers need Hibbert to make difference in Game 2

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Roy Hibbert’s ragged season is catching up to the Indiana Pacers.

Their All-Star center has played like anything but the dominant big man who led them to the Eastern Conference finals last spring. And this year’s runner-up for the defensive player of the year award hasn’t even been on the court much to make a difference.

If the top-seeded Pacers are to survive this semifinal round against fifth-seeded Washington, they need Hibbert to come up big.

On Monday, the 7-foot-2, 295-pound veteran finished with no points and no rebounds as Indiana lost 102-96. The Pacers got dominated on the glass and outscored 19-5 in second-chance points.

Game 2 is Wednesday night in Indianapolis.
