Ozzie Guillen’s son signs minor league deal
NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois minor-league team the Normal Cornbelters has announced they have signed former White Sox and Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen’s son Ozney to a contact for the 2014 season.
The team said Monday that this will be Guillen’s first season in professional baseball. The third-baseman played college ball at St. Thomas University through the 2013 season.
Cornbelters manager Brooks Carey said Guillen should be able to supply power in the middle of the team’ lineup.
Guillen was picked by the White Sox in the 22nd round of the 2010 draft, but he did not sign.
The Cornbelters play in the independent Frontier League. They open their season May 18.
